The ideal candidate for hair restoration surgery should have healthy hair on the sides and back of the head. These areas are used as 'donor areas' for the grafts to be placed in the bald or thinning areas (recipient areas). People with well-defined baldness, thinning hair, as well as those who suffer limited hair loss due to scalp injuries or repeated cosmetic procedures are generally good candidates for hair restoration surgery. The United Hair team will advise you on the treatment options during the initial consultation.

In case of FUE, each follicular unit is individually taken directly from the scalp with no strip(s) of tissue being removed, unlike FUT method. Hair follicles are removed in a random fashion. FUE is not a simple procedure, but rather a delicate, scrupulous one. FUT decreases the height of donor area, a by 'stretch-back' phenomenon, the height is resotred. In case of FUE, the procedure leads to overall decrease of density in donor area. This are the main differences between FUE & FUT.

Hair transplantation procedures are relatively simple outpatient surgeries. Some patients go back to their their lives and work routine as soon as the very next day. The patient is anesthetized with local anesthesia, so the only pain you will feel is the prick of the anesthetic needle. Some patients report higher levels of discomfort with FUT procedures compared to FUE due to the potential swelling in the area where the strip of tissue was removed, but both methods have a very manageable recovery period and pain medication can be prescribed by your physician if needed. With no stitches required and no linear scar left to heal, FUE procedures do have a faster healing time (about a week) and less post-procedure discomfort compared to the traditional FUT procedure.

To be honest, you will probably be pleasantly surprised, as the surgery, itselft, is not painful. Only a little discomfort may appear. Think of it like getting a dental feeling in a dentist clinic. You have anesthetic so there’s no pain, but you may not be the person who likes dentist clinics in the first place. Thus the main reason for discomfort is the fact that you're sitting in the chair for up to ten hours the entire process to be completed, but do not worry, you will get regular breaks during the operation.

During your initial consultation, in clinic or online by sending us 3 pictures from back, front and top of the head, the physician will determine which transplantation method is best for you based on your hair loss classification, the size of the thinning area, quality and quantity of your available donor hair.

In general, for at least ten days you should give a rest to your body and ex and avoid loads. Walking, sitting in cafes, working with a laptop, watching TV and other ordinary routines are completely allowed. Avoid over-exerting yourself by attending gym, running in morning and any sexual activity.

During the operation, the blood will clot in spots where the follicular units are taken, that will look like small red spots or scars, but due to 'scalp wash method', that the doctor will teach you, day by day, starting from the third day of the operation, the scars and red dots will disappear in about a week.

The hair follicles that are transplanted are genetically-resistant against baldness, as they are taken from the back of the head and beyond the ears which are stronger than the ones of the forelock and mid-head so in most of the cases they will continue to grow over your lifetime

There is an approximate rate of hair loss until the transplanted hair follicles begin to produce new hair and you take your final natural look, and there is no need to worry about this period because it is a natural stage. The hair will begin to grow normally at the end of the third month and the beginning of the fourth month, with a rate of 40% of the total number of transplanted hairs. In the fifth-sixth month hair growth reaches 80%, and the hair will appear in the final natural form by month 8-12.

No, there is no difference between existing hair and the transplanted ones. The hair follicles belong to the patient herself/himself of the same person, thus the shape, color and texture of the hair is very natural and no difference is noticeable.
